Dresses to wear to a wedding – as a guest. Midi and maxi, lace, sequins and solid colors, in colors that suit most people and that work from the wedding to the dance.

Can you wear white as a wedding guest?

No. White, off-white and light champagne are the bride's – that's the one rule almost everyone agrees on. That's why we've deliberately left all of our white dresses off this list, even those that are otherwise among our best sellers. Light pink, powder, beige and gold are, however, perfectly fine as long as it doesn't look white in the photo.

How to choose according to the dress code

  • Jacket – the most common Swedish dress code. Midi dress or pretty maxi. You don't have to go far.
  • Dark suit – longer and more lavish. Maxi, preferably in lace, silk or with sequins.
  • No dress code specified – start from the location. Church and banquet hall pull upwards, barn and garden pull downwards.

Two practical things

  • Just shoulders in church. Many weddings want their shoulders covered – bring a shawl or a thin cardigan to wear during the ceremony.
  • You should be able to sit for six hours and dance for two. Try sitting down in the dress before you decide.
